Done > Perfect
A book about perfectionism.
Except I keep trying to write the perfect book about not needing to be perfect.
Yes.
I see it too.
The book began as a productivity idea.
Something about getting unstuck.
Shipping the work.
Moving before certainty arrives.
But the longer I write it, the more I realize it is not really about productivity.
It is about permission.
Permission to begin badly.
To make something before you know exactly what it is.
To change your mind halfway through.
To outgrow an old dream without calling it failure.
To stop treating every unfinished version of yourself like a problem that needs fixing.
I have outlines.
Fragments.
Voice notes.
Half-written chapters.
Stories I know belong somewhere but have not figured out where.
Several competing introductions.
And one suspiciously polished table of contents for a book that is still very much becoming itself.
The irony is not lost on me.
Maybe that is part of the book too.
Alive. Messy. Moving.
A book about getting things done.
A book about trusting yourself enough to move.
Sometimes the work does not need more discipline. It needs less fear.
Still writing this. Still letting it rewrite me.
